MDT-LB5 Productivity

With the aid of the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) system made by the NT-MDT it is possible to investigate a water surface, to deposit to a solid body monolayers of certain chemical substances, to create multilayers structures under controlled alternation of different substances. These systems are very promising in the view of electronics, physical and colloidal chemistry.

The following opportunities are made available to researchers by MDT-LB5 system:

  • measuring surface pressure versus molecular area during two- or one-side compression;
  • control of stability of the pressed monolayer;
  • measuring voltage difference during monolayer's compression;
  • deposition of multilayers by LB or by Alternating Layers method;
  • design of complex film structures from two different monolayers in the sequence desired;
  • change of monolayer's quality in the desired mode by cooling or heating the water sub-phase, by putting solutions of different component into the water when the monolayer is pressed or mixed by mixer;
  • measuring surface viscosity of the monolayers of air-water surface;
  • simultaneous computer control of eleven dependences;
  • full computer control;
  • ease of use.

MDT-LB5 trough is controlled by workstation based on a 386/387, 486 or Pentium IBM-compatible computer. MDT-LB5 system software provides flexible changing of experiment conditions and getting results in convenient form.

The measuring sensors of the device are fixed on horizontal support; its design allows to adjust it for the configuration desired. The design-simulated opportunity to set/remove the trough easily allows to carry out effective experiments with various surface-active substances.

Compare ease of use of MDT-LB5 trough with other systems.
